Lyson Limited carries out stringent fade testing on all of its Archival Ink Products. There is currently no organised standard or test for determining the realistic life of inkjet generated images. However, the test methods Lyson use conform with the forthcoming ANSI/ ISO standard for determining the life of photographic and pictorial images
Using these test methods, Lyson have tested a Fotonic CMYK inkset and this has achieved an estimated 25 - 30 year life in normal indoor display conditions without noticeable fade.
Normal indoor display conditions are determined as exposure for 12 hours per day under glass filtered fluorescent light at 450 lux strength, at <50% relative humidity and a temperature of 24 degrees centigrade.

Independent life testing of Lyson Quad-Black products is carried out by Wilhelm Imaging Research inc. Lyson's own testing indicates that Lyson Small Gamut ink formulations have achieved an estimated life of 50-60 years without noticeable fade in average indoor display conditions on some media. Independent life testing of Lyson Small Gamut products is carried out by Wilhelm Imaging Research inc.
